Fee types
Fees related to card payments:
- Discount rate: This is the fee charged to a merchant for payment processing services on debit and credit card transactions.
- Transaction fee: This fee is incurred every time a payment is processed.
- Retrieval fee: This fee is charged when a customer or the customer's issuing bank requests a copy of a sales draft to substantiate a transaction.
- Chargeback fee: This fee is incurred when a chargeback is issued for a transaction on the merchant account.
- Reversal fee: This fee is incurred when a chargeback is reversed and funds are returned to the merchant.
- Monthly account fee: This fee is charged monthly to maintain a merchant account.
- Monthly minimum fee: This fee reflects the minimum amount a merchant must incur in fees. If the merchant processes below the minimum, they are charged for the difference. For example, if the fee is set to $20 and the total processing fees incurred by the merchant is $15, the merchant will be charged $5 for the difference.
Fees related to ACH and EFT payments:
- Transaction fee: This fee is incurred every time a payment is processed.
- Return fee: This fee is incurred when a merchant's bank account bounces a payment or debit.
